SmartStop is a mechanical locking system for
Einkaufswagen. SmartStop ensures that the Shopping Trolleys remain where they belong - in the car park or in the store.
Using a magnet embedded in the ground, two SmartStop wheels, each mounted diagonally opposite, are activated. If the
Shopping Trolley is only slightly moved to the side while pushing, the two SmartStop wheels lock at an angle of approximately 30 degrees. As a result, the
Shopping Trolley can only be moved in a circle. This effectively prevents the theft of the
Shopping Trolley.
If the
Shopping Trolley is pushed back over the embedded magnet, the wheels automatically unlock and the
Shopping Trolley can be moved freely.
Permanent magnets are used to release the mechanism. SmartStop is virtually maintenance-free and works without batteries, purely mechanically.
Compared to other systems, the locking is much more pleasant for customers. No abrupt braking but gentle rotation of the
Shopping Trolley.
